Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions of Model United Nations at the University of Washington

By accepting this code of conduct, I pledge:

1.      To refrain from conduct which may adversely affect my performance in committee.

2.      To avoid taking action which can affect my safety or the safety of others.

3.      To avoid doing anything that could adversely affect the reputation of UW-MUN, or impinges on the future opportunities of UW-MUN at conferences and events.

4.      To respect my fellow team members.

5.      To abide by the directives of the Head Delegates, recognizing their authority as described below.

6.      To inform at least one of the head delegates before leaving the official venue of the conference.

Powers of the Head Delegates

In addition to all powers outlined in the UW-MUN Constitution and By-Laws, Head Delegates shall have the ability to enact behavioral standards before and during conferences in order to maintain the organization's interests. In the event that Head Delegates enact standards during the conferences, they must then justify their decisions to the officers at the next officer's meeting.

In the event the delegate disagrees with the discretion of the Head Delegate, a formal complaint should be lodged at the next Officer Meeting, whereupon the matter will be addressed by the Officers. Initiation of this complaint process shall not allow a delegate to avoid complying with head delegate directives.

Criticism for Head Delegate discretion and performance during a UW-MUN-attended or sponsored event may be registered in private to the Head Delegates during the event if the delegate does not wish to wait until the next Officer Meeting.

Additionally, by accepting this code of conduct, I am signifying that I understand the following possibilities, should I fail to fulfill the aforementioned pledges in any way:

1.      Censure of delegate actions.

2.      Withdrawal of a delegate’s titles/accreditation on the seniority list.

3.      Removal of General Fund subsidies, which cannot be applied retroactively.

4.      Expulsion or temporary suspension from meetings and/or MUN at the UW-sponsored events.

UW-MUN liability notice:

In consideration of acceptance into this Model United Nations at the University of Washington sponsored event, I fully and forever waive and release any and all rights and claims for any injuries and damages, including but not limited to demands or actions for negligence, premises liability, emotional injury, intentional conduct, resulting in unintended injury or damage tort claims, any other actions or demands of whatsoever nature, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

I recognize that my signature on the payment/sign-up sheet reflects my pledge to uphold the Terms & Conditions for Model United Nations at the University of Washington.
